Cyanobacteria, commonly called "blue green algae", is not only an ugly nuisance; it can be deadly, and mere physical contact with cyanobacteria in water is linked to Parkinson's Disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and other disorders of the human nervous system. Blue green algae is also known to cause liver damage.
